Three Lines Of Enquiry for Living Labs (OLLD25)
Open Living Lab Days 2025, a conference for Living Lab practitioners from around the world is upon us, and I'm in Andorra to explore three lines of enquiry.

This year's conference is Andorra, a country that considers its whole nation state a Living Lab to test and trial its way to a better future.

The conference is called Open Living Lab Days, and is focused this year on 'regenerative futures' and connecting local and global innovation ecosystems.

Three Lines of Enquiry
This year I'm involved in three sessions, and they're driving the three main enquiries I'm holding as I go into this conference.
Enquiry 1: How might we evolve meaningful participation across the lifecycle of living labs?

This enquiry is all about exploring the dynamics of co-creation that is identified as a key priciple of how Living Labs operate.
I'm bringing together my background in participatory design, facilitation, and considering recent experiences and limitations of how living labs are funded, structured and the capabilities needed to make them effective.
I'll be exploring this in the Day 0 basic track.
Enquiry 2: How might we advance University Living Labs to accelerate challenge-led approaches?

This enquiry is all about the documentation of existing practice and reimagining what universities might be, and what role they might play in society.
I'm bringing together my recent efforts to develop thinking with researchers who are pushing the boundaries of how universities traditionally operate, building new ways of thinking about relational infrastructure inside institutions, and re-orienting bright minds, assets and resources towards complex challenges.
I'll be exploring this at Day 2: Edges of University Living Labs session (14:00 - 15:15).
Enquiry 3: How might we ensure we are using appropriate approaches to capture value creation?

This enquiry is all about exploring the ways in which we evaluate and communicate value creation of Living Labs.
I'm bringing together my work in developing impact evaluation frameworks, knowledge exchanges with various Lab practitioners striving to articulate pluralistic value, professional experience and deep dives into advances across the Lab landscape as platforms for change.
I'll be exploring this at Day 2: Reframing Impact - Key Value Indicators session (15:45 - 17:00).
